EDP vs Extrait de Parfum: what is the difference?

Concentration, longevity and projection: how to compare the actual fragrances rather than choose by a label alone.

What do EDP and Extrait mean?

Eau de Parfum (EDP) and Extrait de Parfum describe types of perfume concentration. Extrait generally contains a higher proportion of aromatic materials, but manufacturers do not all follow one mandatory percentage.

Which lasts longer?

A higher concentration does not automatically guarantee greater longevity or projection. The formula, ingredients, skin and weather all matter. Two concentrations of a fragrance can also have different characters.

How should you choose?

Test both versions on your skin, wait for the dry-down and choose by your experience, not only the wording on the bottle.
